The Prevention Center is an advanced cardiovascular diagnostic center where our primary goal is to prevent or reverse the following changes in your body that can lead to heart disease:
- High or abnormal cholesterol
- Diabetes or pre-diabetes
It also includes genetic testing to identify any problems that may make you or your family members more likely to have heart disease or issues with medications.
Why should I visit The Prevention Center?
To see if you are at risk for heart disease, stroke or diabetes and to better help you prevent these events and diseases.
How will I get my results?
Your results will be discussed during your follow-up prevention visit, three to four weeks after your blood is drawn for the test.
Can I get my results during my regular doctor’s appointments or over the telephone?
No, this is a comprehensive, specialized test that requires extensive discussion with our prevention specialists at The Prevention Center.
How will The Prevention Center results help me?
The results can help prevent a stroke, prevent you from developing heart disease or even reverse heart disease by identifying problems early and treating them. They also assist us in finding early signs of diabetes even before symptoms are present.
What is fasting?
Fasting means nothing to eat or drink after midnight the day before you are scheduled to have your blood drawn.
How much will the Boston Heart Diagnostics testing at The Prevention Center cost me?
There is no out-of-pocket cost to patients with insurance.
Should I bring all my medications with me?
Yes, it is always a good idea to bring all of your medications and vitamins with you to your doctor’s visit.
Will I pay for follow-up visits?
Your visit payment is determined by your insurance plan, so be prepared to pay at the time of your follow-up visit.
